I remember when I used to travel frequently for work. Like so many dog owners, I worried every time I left my dogs behind.
I boarded them at a beautiful, cage-free facility. The accommodations were nice, but I still found myself wondering how they were doing. Were they happy? Were they playing? Were they missing me?
What I wanted most were updates, photos, videos, and enrichment activities. I would have gladly paid extra for the peace of mind.
I also tried pet sitters. Unfortunately, I had some bad experiences. One never showed up. Another ignored my requests for updates. One even helped herself to my jewelry.
Back then, I used to tell myself, “One day, I’m going to build a boarding facility that takes care of nervous dog parents too.”
Because I knew I couldn’t be the only helicopter dog mom out there.
When I started Dancing Creek Farm, it began in my home. One dog became two, two became ten, and before long we had built a community of loyal clients who trusted us with their beloved family members.
From the beginning, I also wanted to help military families who needed long-term boarding during deployments and life transitions.
I knew exactly what I didn’t want.
I didn’t want rows of concrete kennel runs.
I didn’t want dogs spending most of their day in crates while their families were on vacation.
I wanted dogs to have a vacation of their own.
That’s why we designed Dancing Creek Farm the way we did. Comfortable accommodations. Enrichment. Individual attention. Responsive staff. Frequent communication. A place where dogs can relax, play, and simply enjoy being dogs.
Whether a dog is staying for a weekend or several months, our goal is the same: to make them feel safe, loved, and cared for.
Because the hardest part of traveling isn’t leaving home.
It’s leaving behind someone who can’t understand why you left.
And nothing eases that worry more than knowing they’re safe, happy, and having a great time.
The same philosophy carries over into our training programs.
Too often, dogs are sent away for training and owners receive very little communication during the process. Then the dog comes home and the support ends.
We do things differently.
Every training client is added to a private WhatsApp group with our trainer and team. We share videos, updates, progress reports, and answer questions throughout the program. Owners get to watch the transformation happen in real time.
And when their dog goes home, the support doesn’t stop.
The group remains active so we can continue helping owners navigate the transition and maintain the training foundation we’ve built together.
After all these years, what makes me most proud isn’t the buildings or the growth.
It’s the trust.
The trust thousands of families have placed in us since 2005.
At Dancing Creek Farm, we don’t just care for dogs.
We treat dogs—and the people who love them—like family.
